Ad Lib Collective
The Ad Lib Collective is a group of performers, composers and creators focused on connecting with audiences through chamber performance, concert curation and the creation of new Australian works. Founded by core members percussionist Thea Rossen and saxophonist Jesse Deane, the Collective is influenced by classical and contemporary music and regularly features cross genre collaborations. As well as commissioning and creating new work, Ad Lib presents educational outreach in metropolitan and regional Victoria, and regularly tours nationally and internationally. In 2017, the Ad Lib Collective will be undertaking a residency at the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity in Canada with a Climate Change Music Project and touring to Western Australia and regional Victoria for lecture recitals and educational outreach.
In 2015 Ad Lib presented a recital tour of the UK and France including a performance of new Australian commissions at the International Saxophone Congress, SaxOpen in Strasbourg. The ensemble have collaborated with travel writer Stephen Scourfield as well as performed regularly at the Ellington Jazz Club in Perth since 2009. Currently based in Melbourne, the collective regularly features percussionist Hamish Upton and Perth based composer and violist Jared Yapp.
